Abstract

Keywords: Writing Skills, Effective, Teacher’s Feedback, Screencast Writing is a form of language skills. Because it is productive, writing can be regarded as a skill that is quite complicated, because writing is an activity in which a person conveys and develops ideas using written language as a medium of communication. In the current era, there are still many people who experience difficulties when developing their writing skills. This makes them lose motivation to practice their writing skills so that their writing results are maximized. In this case, the researcher proposes Screencast as a medium for providing feedback by the teacher on student writing to improve students' writing skills. This study aimed to know whether the teacher’s feedback in Screencast effectively improved students' writing skills. The method used in this study was quantitative approach in a pre-experimental design. This research was conducted among tenth graders of SMAS 1 Simanjaya. The subject of this study was X-1 Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA) at SMAS 1 Simanjaya. The instrument of this research was a writing test through pre-test and post-test. The data collection techniques in this study used the results of the students' pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed using a statistical calculation called a paired sample test (T-Test) on the statistical SPSS 25.0 version. The results of this study indicate the average value of students before and after using the Screencast as a medium for providing teacher feedback. The pre-test average score was 40.33, and the post-test average score was 81.96. The results of data analysis show that the use of Screencast as a medium for providing teacher feedback in learning descriptive text material can improve students' writing skills. In the pre-test, some students had difficulty developing writing ideas as well as describing themselves on the writing test. On the other hand, the students' writing test post-test showed their improvement because they became confident in writing and were able to develop ideas in their writing. Based on the results of the pre-test and post-test data obtained in the paired sample test, the significance value is lower than the significance level of 0.000 <0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that teacher feedback through Screencast is viii effective in improving students' writing skills in class X-1 IPA. In the world of education, the existence of this learning digitalization phenomenon can be said to be an encouraging step for every university and school in utilizing technologybased learning.
