Abstract

Keywords: Learning Listening, understand information, Film Conjuring 3. Listening is an activity to listen, digest and understand information or messages received through the listening process with complete understanding to capture messages conveyed by others. In other words, listening is a form of attention to listen to and understand the speaker so that later you can obtain information and understand what the speaker is saying. This research uses pre-experimental research, which consists of pre-test, treatment, and posttest. The aim is to find out whether the film Conjuring 3 is effective as a medium to improve students' listening skills. The experiment results are known after knowing the differences in students' scores before and after being taught using film Conjuring 3 in learning listening skills. The pre-experimental treatment was evaluated by comparing the scores between the pre-test and post-test using SPSS. The results of this study show that the average score of listening skills on the pre-test is 50.00, and the average score on the post-test is 77.67. On the other hand, the data provided in classifying students' pre-test and post-test scores in listening skills can be seen clearly in the pre-test of sixteen (53.4%) students who are classified as low and six (20.0%). ). Students were declared sufficient, five (16.7%) students were declared good, one (3.3%) student was declared very good, and then two (6.6%) students were declared very good. While the percentage of two students (6.6%) on the post-test level was declared immoral, three students (10.0%) were declared sufficient. Six (20.0%) students were classified as good, nine (30.0%) students were excellent, and ten (33.4%) students were excellent. Thus, the researcher concluded that the student's listening skills increased from the classification of poor, good enough, good and very good to very good. Based on the results of statistical calculations, using accurate and false material through the film Conjuring 3 effectively teaches listening. It is proven in hypothesis testing that the significance value is less than 0.05. If the significance value is less than 0.05, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. That is, student achievement after being taught using true-false material through the Conjuring 3 film is higher than student achievement before being taught using true-false material through the Conjuring film.
