Abstract
Keywords: Denotative and connotative meanings, A horse faced woman. This study discusses An analysis of denotative and connotative meanings in “A horse faced woman” (Thailand folktale). The purpose of this study was to find the denotative and connotative meanings which are implied in A horse faced woman and to what the specific difference between denotative and connotative meanings found in A horse faced woman for the folktale. The research method used in this study is the descriptive qualitative. The research denotative and connotative meanings, the object of A horse faced woman. The data collection techniques there are : (1) reads and understands and then looks for the denotative and connotative meaning from those content of A horse faced woman (2) find some words of denotative and connotative meanings found A horse faced woman content. Denotative meaning is the real meaning, or it can be called as a dictionary meaning. While connotative meaning is the simile meaning. In creating content, A horse faced woman also used denotative and connotative meanings and messages in the content. The researcher used folktale that had been analyzed. In the content of A horse faced woman, there are 17 sentences which could be analyzed by the researcher. denotative have to 118 words and connotative have to 22 words, and have some words that are similar to.
