Abstract

Keyword: students’ activities, English assignment, offline learning, and online learning. The 2019 corona-virus disease (Covid-19) outbreak has hit many countries in the world, which causes its challenges for the educational system in every country including Indonesia. During the pandemic, the students’ learning activities move from offline to online learning. There are many challenges for teacher and student in doing teaching and learning process in the online learning. Some factors such as the students, the learning process, and the Internet Network commonly are influencing learning activity. The researcher conducts this study to analyze the students’ activities in offline learning and to analyse the similarities and differences between students’ activities in in offline and online learning. This research was qualitative research. In this study, the respondents involved were 3 students of SMK NU 2 Kedungpring, the 3 students from X Multimedia and X Tata Niaga. The technique of data collection were observation, interview, and documentation. The observation used to know the students’ activities in offline and online learning. The interview to know the students’ feedback and the students’ learning experience. The documentation used to complete the data both of the students’ assignments and the documentation. The results of this study are the offline learning more effective than online learning. The less effective online learning because of the lack facilities and infrastructure as well as the unpreparedness of technological education. The students could not concentrate on learning at home, did not have money to buy the internet, the Internet connection in Indonesia is bad for online learning, and the students fell Online learning causes tiredness when staring at the screen. Based on the result of the research, the researcher suggests the English teachers to apply the result of this study as feedback in their teaching activities, improve their knowledge and experience in choosing appropriate teaching strategy in online and offline learning, so that the students are easy to get the materia
