Abstract

English is one of the international languages used for communication among nations in the world. A good pronunciation can make the communication run well. Therefore, the objectives of the research were to know whether tongue twister can increase students' pronunciation ability among the tenth graders and to find out how the students who are taught the tongue twister technique gain better pronunciation skills than the students who are not taught through tongue twister technique in tenth graders of SMAN 1 Sekaran Lamongan. The method of this research was the quantitative method by using a quasi- experimental design. There were 60 students, it was divided into two groups the experimental group and the control group. This research used SPSS version 24 in analyzing the data. The result of the research was calculated after doing a pretest and posttest. Based on the calculation, the treatment implemented using the Tongue Twister technique got higher than without using the Tongue Twister technique. It can be seen from the independent t-test result was 0.000. Because 0.000<0.05 then H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. It can be concluded that the Tongue Twister technique has an impact on increasing the students' pronunciation ability of tenth graders in SMAN 1 Sekaran Lamongan in the academy year 2021/2022.
