Abstract

Speaking is the main thing that must be mastered in order to communicate and build conversations with other people. This study was aimed to determine whether there is a significant difference between extroverted and introverted students in the ability to speak through photovoice. Then to find out the comparison between the results of the speaking scores of extroverted and introverted students in grade 8 MTs Darul Ulum Nglumber Bojonegoro. This study used a causal-comparative research type with a quantitative approach and there were 30 students as samples. In collecting data, researchers used questionnaires and tests as research instruments. The questionnaire was consisted of 24 questions adopted from the Eysenck Personality Inventory. Questionnaires were used to determine extrovert and introvert students. Then, the researcher used an oral test via whatsapp by using the voicenote feature with Photovoice media. To analyze the data, the researcher used the Independent Sample T-test with SPSS 24.00. The results showed that the Independent sample T-test stated that the sig (2- tailed) was 0.021 (0.021 <0.05) meaning that there was a statistically significant difference. Based on the research results, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. The results of the study also showed a that there was comparison between the results of the speaking scores of extroverted and introverted students. In conclusion, there is a significant difference between extroverted and introverted students in speaking ability. The researcher suggests for teacher to consider the different personality types of students. So, teacher can use different method to teach the speaking skill.
