Abstract
The focus of this study is to measure Augmented Reality through Assemblr as a medium for this study in improving students' ability to write descriptive texts. The students of X class have problems in writing. According to a preliminary study, English teachers explained that more than 60% of students have difficulty in learning descriptive texts. Students find it difficult to convey their ideas so they cannot write optimally. The lack of learning media made learning activities boring and uncomfortable. Therefore, the researcher decided to apply Augmented Reality through Assemblr as a learning medium to improve students' ability to write descriptive texts. This study aimed to examine the impact of Augmented Reality through Assemblr as a learning media in enhancing students’ writing descriptive text. The researcher uses a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design. The population of this research was class X in MA Al-Muslimun Kawistolegi totaling 39 students. The sampling technique in this study used saturated sampling, in which all members of the population were used as samples. The instrument of this study is a writing test (pre-test and post-test). The researcher used pre-tests and post-tests to collect the data. The data were analyzed using a paired sample T-test with SPSS 25.0. From the data obtained, the mean score of the pre-test is 50,79 and the mean score of the post-test is 91,17. This score shows a significant difference in the post-test score after treatment using Augmented Reality through Assemblr as a learning media. The result of the paired sample T-test was 0.00 < 0.05, which indicates that Ho was rejected and Ha is accepted. So, it can be concluded that Augmented Reality through Assemblr has a significant effect on students' skills of writing descriptive text. Thus, the researcher suggests for further research to use of Augmented reality through Assemblr in other skills.
