Abstract

With the rapid advancement of technology and the proliferation of online platforms supporting alternative learning methods, TikTok has emerged as a popular application among students. This study aims to explore students' perceptions an obstacle of using TikTok as a tool for learning English speaking skills at SMK NU 1 Karanggeneng. As a widely-used social media platform, TikTok offers a variety of multimedia content that can support the learning process. This research employs a qualitative approach using surveys and interviews to gather data from students about their experiences and views on utilizing TikTok for English language learning, with abalysis techniques survey, observation, questionnaire and interview The findings indicate that most students believe TikTok enhances their motivation and engagement in learning English. They find learning through TikTok enjoyable and less monotonous. However, challenges such as a lack of relevant material and potential distractions from non-educational content were also noted. The study provides insights into how TikTok can be effectively integrated into educational contexts and highlights the importance of designing content that supports learning objectives.In conclusion, this thesis provides valuable insight into English students' perceptions of using the Tiktok application for online English speaking learning. It is hoped that the results of this research will provide meaning for lecturers, students, developers and future researchers. Lecturers are expected to consider English learning media through the TikTok application to motivate students. For students, and for future researchers, the researcher suggests using similar research and using other similar educational application objects with a larger number of participants to conduct more complex research.
