Abstract

Money has evolved into a universally accepted medium of exchange that is authorized by the state. Modern banking systems play a pivotal role in money creation, a process that profoundly influences economic dynamics. Interest rates, as a key monetary policy tool, exert a significant impact on economic behavior and, consequently, on the money creation mechanism. This research aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the banking system's money creation mechanism, with a particular focus on the role of interest rates as either a catalyst or a hindrance to this process. The study employs a literature review methodology, examining a wide range of relevant literature, including academic journals, books, and research reports that address the topics of money creation and monetary policy. The findings of this research are expected to provide a comprehensive understanding of how banks create money and how changes in interest rates can affect this process. Furthermore, this study is anticipated to identify other factors influencing money creation and to strengthen monetary policy for financial system stability and economic growth.
