Abstract

Monetary policy in Indonesia has undergone significant changes, in line with the dynamics of both domestic and global economic conditions. This article aims to analyze the history, transformation, and response of Indonesia's monetary policy to economic crises using a literature review methodology. The research examines various relevant literatures, including academic journals, reports from Bank Indonesia, publications from international economic institutions, and previous studies on monetary policy in Indonesia. The main focus of this article is to explore how Indonesia's monetary policy has evolved, particularly in response to major economic crises such as the 1998 monetary crisis and the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The study also highlights the factors influencing policy changes, as well as the effectiveness of these policies in maintaining national economic stability. The findings suggest that Indonesia's monetary policy continues to adapt to global and domestic economic challenges, with the critical role of Bank Indonesia in managing interest rates, foreign exchange market interventions, and inflation stabilization. This research provides insights into the importance of monetary policy flexibility in responding to crises and ensuring long-term economic stability.
