Abstract
Consumption, production, and distribution are the foundational pillars of an economicsystem, shaping both sustainability and social justice within society. In Islamic economicthought, these three components are not merely functional activities but are deeply embeddedwithethical and spiritual dimensions governed by Sharia principles. The hisbah institutionservesasa supervisory authority that ensures the integrity of economic practices by maintainingadherence to halal, fairness, and the prevention of harm. Its role extends beyondmarketoversight to include the reinforcement of responsible production systems andequitabledistribution mechanisms. At the same time, economic planning in Islamis inherentlyvalue-driven, aiming to promote public welfare (maslahah) and systemic balance. Thisarticlehighlights how the synergy between the hisbah institution and Islamic economic planningcanserve as a cornerstone for establishing a more visionary, just, and welfare-orientedIslamiceconomic system. Concrete steps are needed to revitalize hisbah as an integral partofnational economic governance—one that is not only responsive to market dynamicsbut alsoproactive in preserving the moral compass of economic development.
